Hermina Johnson, of Wellsburg, passed away of natural causes on Tuesday, September 3, 1996, at Allen Memorial Hospital in Waterloo, Iowa, having attained the age of 83 years, 10 months, and 7 days.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 7, at the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Douglas Holmes officiating. Burial followed in Shiloh Cemetery, Wellsburg

Pallbearers were Ron Bates, Greg Heikens, Doug Heikens, Jay Stanley, Ryan Johnson and Kevin Klooster.

A memorial fund has been established.

Born October 27, 1912, in Aplington, Iowa, Hermina was the daughter of Jacob and Heika (Bakker) Klooster. She received her education in Austinville School and on January 7, 1934, was united in marriage to Harry Johnson in Aplington. They farmed in the Dumont, Wellsburg, and Aplington area.

After her husband's death in 1968, Hermina moved to Aplington where she was employed by Maple Manor, retiring in 1980. In 1991, she made her home at Friendship Manor in Wellsburg. Hermina was a member of the Second Christian Reformed Church in Wellsburg and of the Willing Workers. Reading was one of her favorite activities.

Hermina was preceded in death by her husband Harry; her parents; one brother, John Klooster; and two sisters, Gertrude Renken and Jennie Frey.

Survivors include one daughter, Norma Heikens and husband Don of Wellsburg; one son, Kent Johnson and wife Donna of Nevis, Minnesota; 6 grandchildren, Laura Bates and husband, Ron of Wellsburg, Doug Heikens and wife, Cheryl, of Mt. Home, Idaho, Greg Heikens and wife, Jolene, of Wellsburg, Donita Stanley and husband, Jay, of Menomonie, Wisconsin, Ryan Johnson of Minneapolis, Minnesota, and Kim Johnson of Nevis, Minnesota; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Mrs. Tena Kole of Aplington and Mrs. Alice Kolthoff of Wellsburg; 1 brother, Herman Klooster and wife, Henrietta, of Aplington; 1 sister-in-law, Margaret Klooster of Allison; and many nieces and nephews.

The Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the funeral arrangements.
