Mr. Benjamin Zimmers died of cancer of the stomach June 17, 1896. He had suffered greatly and was unable to retain any kind of food for some time before his death and his friends were greatly relieved when his sufferings ended since no earthly aid could benefit him. He was born in Baden, Germany, and in 1831 came to American and settled at Lancaster, PA. From there he came to Grundy county in 1882. He was an industrious and honest citizen and was respected in the community in which he lived. A wife, three daughters and three sons are left to mourn his death. The funeral was held from the Catholic church Friday morning. Rev. Father Sheehay conducting the services and the remains were interred in the Catholic cemetery west of town.
