Mrs. Henry D. Aswegan died at three o'clock Friday afternoon at her home two miles west and a half mile south of Stout. She fell a few months ago and broke a bone in her hip. She never entirely got over the shock from this accident and it affected her heart and resulted in her death. She was 68 years old. Her husband who had been an invalid for a long time died six months ago.
Funeral services were held in the Lutheran church in Parkersburg Wednesday afternoon. The services were conducted by the local pastor, Rev. John Reents. Burial was by the side of the husband in the Salem Lutheran church cemetery.
Was Born in Germany
Mrs. Aswegan was born in Reimels, Germany. Her maiden name was Lena Aswegan. She was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Aswegan. She came to this country with her parents during her childhood. The family located on a farm in Beaver township. She was married 49 years ago to Henry D. Aswegan. The couple lived on the same farm during all of their married life.
Surviving are one daughter and two sons. The daughter is Mrs. Onno Meyer from Allison. One son, Taleus, is at home. The other son, Joe, is in the army, and he is believed now to be in France. There are four stepsons, Amo, Dave and Carl from Grundy county and John from Bristow. Other surviving relatives are three brothers and one sister. The brothers are Harm from Stout, Dave and Luke J. from Parkersburg. The one sister, Mrs. Dave H. Aswegan, lives at Fern.
