Edward M. Aswegan, 85, of Heritage Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Cedar Rapids, died there on August 29 following a lengthy illness.

A memorial service will be held on September 10 at the United Methodist Church, Reinbeck. A memorial fund has been established.

Edward was born March 18, 1916 in Beaver Township, Grundy County, to Henry and Wilhelmine Reinken Aswegan. Edward married Esther Brower on October 4, 1940 in Holland. She died on February 18, 1960. He married Catherine on October 2, 1965 in Grundy county.

Edward farmed his entire life and worked as a hired man for many farmers.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters; a sister, eight grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother; a sister; and a great-grandson.
