The Rev. Charles Albin, 97, formerly of 714 W. Nevada St., died Oct. 23 at the Oakview Nursing Home in Conrad.

Services were set for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Iowa River Church of the Brethren with the Rev. David Lewis officiating. Burial was to be in the Sheller Cemetery near Wellsburg.

A memorial fund is established and may be directed to the family.

He was born at Norton, Kan. on Nov. 15, 1899 to Oscar C. and Nellie Sprung Albin. He was reared and educated in Norton and lived there until 1921, when he entered the Lewis Institute to become an ordained minister, graduating in 1928. In 1933, he received his Bachelor's degree in Divinity. He came to the Ivester Church of the Brethren in 1952 and served there until 1966. He returned in 1982 and made his home with his daughter.

He married Ica Mae Vought in September of 1928 in Chicago, Ill.

He was a member of the Iowa River Church of the Brethren, and was honored in 1966 for serving as an ordained pastor for 75 years. He has served as a District Field Secretary for the Conference, was a Moderator of the District Conference and was a Trustee for McPherson College.

Survivors include two daughters, Kathy Waterman of Marshalltown and Lavonne Kruschwitz of Grundy Center; two sons, Wesley Albin of Harrisburg, Pa., and Robert Albin of West Des Moines; 17 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, four brothers, five sisters and one-step-grandson.
