Doris Ida Aiken, 83, of Modesto, CA, formerly of Wellsburg, died February 25 at the English Oaks Convalescent Hospital in Modesto.

Funeral services were Friday, March 2 at 1 p.m. at the Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg. Pastor Kevin Ver Hoeven officiated. Burial was in the Shiloh Cemetery in Wellsburg. A memorial fund has been established.

Doris was born September 28, 1917 in Wellsburg the daughter of Thomas T. and Sophie (Freerksen) Beecroft. She graduated from Wellsburg High School. She was a teller at Peoples Savings Bank in Wellsburg and the Bank of Everett, Silver Lake Branch in Washington State. On March 18, 1959 she was united in marriage to Homer Lee Aiken. He passed away in 1988.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two brothers, Clarence and Ted Beecroft; and four sisters, Mary Beecroft, Margaret Johnson, Ordie Beecroft and Junice Groote.

She is survived by her two nephews, Sheldon Groote of Montezuma and Preston Groote of Denver, CO; two brothers-in-law, Herman Groote of Wellsburg and Ralph Johnson of Iowa Falls.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home, Wellsburg, was in charge of the arrangements.
