Duane Boike, 68, of Eldora, died Sunday, April 13, at Eldora Regional Medical Center in Elora.

Memorial services will be Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at Creps-Abels Funeral Home in Eldora with the Rev. Anne Lippincott officiating. Burial will be in Melrose Cemetery in rural Grundy County with military rites conducted by the Walter-Sayer American Legion Post No. 182 and Roll-Harless VFW No. 3974.

He was born April 27, 1928 in Eldora to Herman and Alto Essig Boike.

He served in WWII as a paratrooper.

He married Dorothy Reeves on Nov. 11, 1961 in Bellflower, Calif. He worked for Rockwell International in California as an aerospace engineer for 32 years.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy of Eldora; two sons, Kim Boike of Phoenix, Ariz. and Mark Boike of Westminister, Calif.; a brother, Miles Boike of Eldora; a sister, Gail Petersen of Marshalltown; a granddaughter; and a great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
