Irene Toben, 98, of Reinbeck, Iowa, died Wednesday, April 8, 2009, at Grundy County Memorial Hospital Center in Grundy Center, Iowa. Private family Graveside services will be held April 11, 2009.

Irene was born August 22, 1910, near Tama, Iowa, the daughter of Han and Amanda (Strohbehn) Ehlers. Irene married Henry Toben February 2, 1932. They spent their married life living in Reinbeck. Irene enjoyed her time on the farm, reading and playing cards. Irene loved to spend time with family and friends.

Irene is survived by her daughter, Ila Hoeppner of Reinbeck; two grandsons, Kent (Ev) Hoeppner of Dallas Center, IA, Scott (Connie) Hoeppner of Reinbeck; granddaughter, Vicky (Mike) St Angelo of Jacksonville Beach, FL; IL; three great-grandchildren, five great-great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Amanda Ehlers; husband Henry Toben; three brothers, George, Lyman and John Ehlers; three sisters, Grace Cavanaugh, Bertha (Betty) Steffen, Edna Paton and one son-in-law, Vernon Hoeppner.
