Mrs. Charles Reed, who has been living just over the line in Grundy county, died of flu, Friday, Nov. 29. She will be remembered here, as she was a niece of Mrs. Jennie Quick and often visited here, especially two or three years ago.

Florence Eleanor DeSeelhorst, younger daughter of Mr. and Mrs. L. B. DeSeelhorst, was born on the farm in Palermo township, Grundy county, September 12, 1892, and died November 29, 1918 of influenza, at the age of 26 years, 2 months and 17 days.

She resided on the farm until 1909 when she moved to Grundy Center, with her parents, where she graduated from the high school in the class of 1910. After teaching one year she entered the Cedar Rapids Business college and finished the course in shorthand and stenography, in which she became very rapid and efficient. She continued to work at her chosen calling until July, 1914, when she returned home, where in September of the same year she was elected assistant cashier of the Peoples' Savings Bank, of which her father is vice-president and served two years and nine months, always pleasing and courteous to the customers with whom she came in contact.

On July 1, 1917, she offered her resignation, to prepare to take up the duties of a home for herself and was married to Charles Harry Reed, October 8, 1917, and on March 1, 1918, moved to the farm in Melrose township where she died.

She united with the Presbyterian church in 1911. After moving to Cedar Rapids, she united with the St. Paul Methodist church. She was a member of the Rebecca lodge and the Pythian Sisters lodge of Grundy Center.

She leaves to mourn her untimely taking away, her bereaved husband, her father and mother, one sister Mrs. Walter A. Lynn, and one brother, H. F. DeSeelhorst.

Private funeral services were held in the home by Rev. J. C. Curry of the Baptist church, on Sunday morning, and she was laid to rest in the Clark cemetery in Grundy Center.
