Grace N. Bruns, 93, of Iowa Falls, and formerly of Alden, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 21, 2009, at the Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Grace N. Bruns will be 10:30 Wednesday, March 25th at the Bethel Baptist Church, Iowa Falls, with Reverend Steve Hill officiating. Burial will be at the Reformed Church Cemetery, Stout, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Linn's Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls.

Grace Nancy Maas was born November 8, 1915, at her parents farm home in Grundy County, Iowa. She was the daughter of Henrietta [DeVoogd] and Ebbo Maas. She attended the Morrison, Iowa, Public School thru the eight grade. On April 2, 1934, Grace was united in marriage to John D. Bruns at Williams, Iowa. To this union five children were born: Janice, John, Gary, Elaine and Richard. Grace was a homemaker but also was a dietary aide for 11 and 1/2 years for Ellsworth Municipal Hospital, Iowa Falls. Grace was a 47 year member of the Christian Reformed Church and when it closed she joined the Church of the Nazerene and then attended the Bethal Baptist Church all of Iowa Falls. She participated in the Women's Fellowship Circle of each church.

Grace Bruns is survived by two daughters: Janice Faber of Marshalltown, Iowa, Elaine [Roy] Sunken of Iowa Falls, Iowa; one son: Richard "Butch" [Valerie] Bruns of Waukee, Iowa; nine grandchildren; twenty great grandchildren; two step grandchildren; thirteen great-great grandchildren; two step great-great grandchildren; and one sister: Wilma Cornelius of New Hartford, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Ebbo and Henrietta Maas; her husband: John Bruns; two sons: Gary E. Bruns in infancy, John "Jack" Bruns; a step daughter: Kathryn Boelman; an infant granddaughter: Christine Bruns; a grandson: Roger Faber; one sister: Florence Redenius; and three brothers: John Maas, Harry Maas, and Peter Maas.
