Henrietta Kate "Hank" Janssen, 67, of Ackley, Iowa, passed away Saturday, March 28, 2009, at her home of natural causes. A memorial service for Henrietta Janssen will be 2:00 pm Tuesday, March 31st, at the Linn's Funeral Chapel, 903 Cerro Gordo Street, Ackley, Iowa, with Reverend Paul Schaedig officiating. Private inurnment will be at the Oak Hill Cemetery, Parkersburg, Iowa. Memorials may be directed to the family. The Linn's Family services Ackley Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Henrietta Kate Henrichs was born June 20, 1941, at Allen Hospital, Waterloo, Iowa, the daughter of Henry and Minnie E. [Fleshner] Henrichs. She married Ruben Janssen on November 18, 1966, at Parkersburg, Iowa. They lived southeast of Ackley, Iowa.

She attended rural country school in Grundy County and was confirmed at Bethel Lutheran Church in Parkersburg on March 25, 1956. She graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1959.

She worked at the canning factory in Ackley for several years, as well as the Ackley Car Wash. She enjoyed collecting and displaying Christmas houses, and was known as the practical joker of family and friends. She also liked socializing with family and friends, and previously enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Henrietta is survived by her husband: Ruben Janssen; a brother-in-law: Romaine [Romajean] Janssen of Waterloo, Iowa; three nieces; three nephews; and twelve great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: Henry and Minnie Henrichs; one sister: Pauline Meester; and a niece: Nancy Meester.
