Martha Hartema, 89, of Iowa Falls, Iowa, passed away Thursday, August 13, 2009, at the Heritage Care Center, Iowa Falls. Funeral services for Martha Hartema will be 10:30 am Monday, August 17th at the Linn's Funeral Chapel, 1521 Washington Avenue, Iowa Falls, Iowa. A time of visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm Sunday at the Linn's Funeral Home, Iowa Falls. Burial will be at the Northlawn Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa Falls.

Martha Matilda Willms was born April 21, 1920, at Stout, Iowa, the daughter of Tina Wilhelmina (Karsjen) and John Louie Willms. She attended Country School. On August 28, 1940 Martha was united in marriage to George G. Hartema at Ackley, Iowa. She was a farmwife and seamstress. She was a member of the Christian Reformed Church, Austinville, Iowa. and had attended the Church of the Nazarene, Iowa Falls, following the local church closing.

Martha Hartema is survived by three sisters: Theda Reece of Bradford, Iowa, Lucille Hesnard of Bradford, Iowa, Shirley [Bill] Sanders of Bradford, and one brother: Ernest [Charlene] Willms of Hampton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents: John and Tina Willms; her husband George Hartema; and three brothers: Ernie Willms, Albert Willms, and Harlan Willms.
