New Hartford--John Cowie Wilson, 74, Thursday night at his home here of a heart attack; had been working in his yard and when he did not come in for supper his wife, who is crippled, called their son, Robert, and Mr. Wilson was found dead; born Apr. 3, 1881, in Grundy county, son of David Burnet and Isabelle (Cowie) Wilson; married Margaret Erie Collins Dec. 1, 1906; in early life was a rural school teacher; couple farmed in Grundy county until 1930, when they moved to California; returned to New Hartford in 1935; Mr. Wilson was Fairfield township trustee for several years and was one of the first directors of the New Hartford Consolidated school; leaves widow, two sons, John C. Jr., Central City, and Robert; one daughter, Mrs. Ruth Paine, Portland, Ore.; nine grandchildren; a sister, Miss Ethel Wilson, and a brother, William H., both of New Hartford; and a cousin, Alec Torrie, who made his home with the Wilsons for 40 years; funeral tentatively set for Monday at the Methodist church, with burial in Fairfield cemetery south of New Hartford; body at the Dahl funeral home at Cedar Falls.
