Doyle W. Coffman, 78, of Reinbeck died of natural causes Saturday evening, September 4, 1999 at Covenant Medical Center, Waterloo where he been a patient since August 19.

Doyle was born on October 13, 1920, in Tingley, the son of Claude and Grace Arnold Coffman. He grew up in the area of his birth and attended school at Tingley and later at Liscomb. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and had served in England and France during World War II. After his honorable discharge, Doyle moved to Reinbeck whee he worked at his parent's grocery store, Coffman's Briardale. On March 23, 1946, he was united in marriage to Johanna Beenken of Morrison. The couple made their home in Reinbeck where Doyle continued working at the grocery store until 1963. He then worked at Rath Packing Company in Waterloo and Cropmate Company in Reinbeck before accepting a position with Hawkeye Steel Company in Waterloo, where he later retired. In his spare time, Doyle loved woodworking and making furniture for his family.

He had been a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in Reinbeck and was also a member of the American Legion Action Post #242 in Reinbeck.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Doris Delene Groesbeck; his brother, Erwin "Squirt" Coffman; a granddaughter, Robin Sienknecht; and a nephew, David Wilkey.

Survivors include his wife, Jo Coffman of Reinbeck; two daughters, Dianna and her husband, Jerry Fogt of LeGrand, and Barb and her husband, Jim Posusta of Gladbrook; a son Rick and his wife, Lauri of Reinbeck; a sister, Dwanelle Chapman of Cedar Rapids; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Coffman of Hastings, MN; eight grandchildren, Rob, Mark, David and Kerri Fogt, Jennifer Flater, Randy Sienknecht, and Rochelle and Tom Posusta; and 10 great-grandchildren, Bryce Flater, Amanda, Amber, Brittany, Tyler, Ryan, Lynde, Curt, Jacob and Brandon Fogt. Several other relatives and cousins also survive.

Hand Funeral Home, Reinbeck, was in charge of arrangements.
