Etta Dena Renken of 803 9th Street, Aplington, Iowa, was born the daughter of Thomas and Anna Peters Meester on December 6, 1910 in Grundy County, Iowa. She attended rural school near her home.
On September 26, 1935, Etta was united in marriage to Heiko Renken in the parsonage of Pleasant Valley Reformed Church, rural Parkersburg, Iowa. They farmed until the death of Heiko in August of 1948, when Etta and her 3 children moved to Aplington.
Etta was a very active member of First Reformed Church in Aplington and had been employed for about 8 years for Maple Manor Nursing Home.
Sunday morning, August 15, 1993, Etta died at her home. She reached the age of 82 years, 8 months and 9 days. She was preceded in death by her: husband, Heiko Renken; a granddaughter, Sandy Spears; her parents; and 4 brothers, Henry K. Meester, John K. Meester, Herman Meester and James Meester.
Etta is survived by her: 3 children and their spouses, son, Kenneth and Bonnie Renken, Aplington, 2 daughter, Darlene & Eugene Spears, Waterloo, and Dorothy and Lee Schipper, Aplington; 9 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; 2 sisters, Tena Paterni and Ann Murra both of Wellsburg; and 1 brother, Johannes Meester, Parkersburg.
