Grace Blythe, 93, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Monday, June 30, 2003, at the Presbyterian Village in Ackley, Iowa, of natural causes.
Grace was born January 25, 1910, in rural Grundy County, Iowa, the daughter of John H. and Anna (Eekhoff) Ruter. Grace attended Pine Creek Country School, in rural Grundy County. On September 5, 1929, Grace was united in marriage to George Seymour Blythe at the parsonage of First Christian Reformed Church. They lived on a farm in rural Grundy County. Grace's husband George died on January 21, 1977. Grace continued to live on the farm until 1980, when she came to live at the Friendship Manor Apartments in Wellsburg.
Grace was a lifelong member of First Christian Reformed Church, and had been a member of Timothy Sisters, and the Queen Esther Circle. She had also been a member of Shiloh Homemakers. Grace loved playing cards.
She is survived by two sons Ernest Ray Blythe and his wife Berniece of Grundy Center, Iowa; Wayne Lee Blythe and his wife Joyce of Wellsburg, Iowa; two daughters Mary Ann Vry and her husband Dale of Parkersburg, Iowa; Ila Mae Venenga of Bristow, Iowa; three daughters-in-law Esther Blythe of Wellsburg, Iowa; Ann Blythe of Ormond Beach, Florida; and Donna Blythe of Wellsburg, Iowa; twenty one grandchildren; thirty six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband George; three sons Gene, Kenneth, and Alvin Blythe; three grandsons; one great-granddaughter; and one sister Adele Knock.
