Claus G. Primus, 78, of Wellsburg passed away on Sunday, July 16, 2000, at his home in Wellsburg.

Claus was born in Hardin County on August 4, 1921, the son of Henry B. and Gertrude (Ruter) Primus. He graduated in 1939 from Steamboat Rock High School. On June 29, 1945, he was united in marriage to Frances Nederhoff on her home place southwest of Wellsburg. He served his country in the U.S. Army. They farmed all their lives. They moved to Wellsburg in August of 1982. Claus enjoyed farming, reading, and spending time with his family.

Claus was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church. In the church he served as a youth leader, choir director, and on the council. He served on the Mid American Dairy Board and Timothy Christian School Board.

Survivors include one son, Rollin Primus and wife Bern of Steamboat Rock and their children, Jennifer, Joseph, and Jessica Primus; one daughter, Rhonda Groninga and husband Randy of Wellsburg and their daughter Natalie Groninga; two sisters, Helen Riekena of Wellsburg and Bernice Mulder of Port Sanila, Michigan; and one brother, John H. Primus, and wife June of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Frances in 1999.
