Services Monday For Art Siemsen

Arthur J. Siemsen, 74, retired Grundy Center farmer, died Friday at Grundy County Memorial Hospital, where he had been a patient for four months.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at the Salem Church of Lincoln, with Rev. Donald Martin officiating. Burial was in the Grundy Center cemetery.

Special music during the service was furnished by organist Mrs. Robert Blankers, and flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Kroeger, Mr. and Mrs. Roland Sharp, and Mr. and Mrs. Howard Lynch.

Casketbearers were Carroll Freed, Lester Barfels, Harris Cold, Marvin Barfels, Jens Thompson and Dean Fleisher.

Mr. Siemsen was born Dec. 7, 1893, a son of Mr. and Mrs. Siem Siemsen, in Tama county. He was married to Anna Muhring at Grundy Center Nov. 18, 1919.

After marriage they farmed on the farm south of Grundy Center, where he had lived since he was 4 years old. They lived there in retirement.

He was a World War I veteran and member of the American Legion and Farm Bureau.

Survivors are his widow; one son, Wilbur, Grundy Center; two daughters, Mrs. Melvin (Alice) Diehl, Redwood Falls, Minn., and Mrs. Dan (Ivadell) Meester, of Grundy Center; and 10 grandchildren.
