Reinbeck Man's Funeral Will Be Wednesday at 2:00. Peter H. Stewart, 82, Was Furniture Dealer for Many Years

Reinbeck, IA; Funeral services for Peter H. Stewart, 82, who died of complications following a stroke three years previous, will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, at Union Congregational Church, Rev.R. Cary Hufstader, pastor, officiating. Burial at Reinbeck cemetery.

Mr. Stewart was born May 7, 1857, at Perth, Scotland, son of James & Jessie (Rodgers/Rogers) Stewart, and came to America with his parents in 1865, the family settling in Clinton County, Iowa. In 1875 the family moved to Tama County and settled on a farm south of Reinbeck.

Mr. Stewart remained on the farm until December 21, 1887, when he was married at Mantorville, Minnesota to Miss Josephine Weber. They returned to Reinbeck and lived on a farm south of town for one year, when they moved to Primghar, where he was engaged in the implement business for several years.

To Reinbeck in 1893: In 1893 he disposed of his business there and returned to Reinbeck and engaged in the furniture and undertaking business until 1920, when he retired, occupying his time looking after his various real estate interests.

In 1910 Mr. Stewart returned to the place of his birth, Perth, Scotland in company with his daughter, Mrs. William E. Noble. Mr. and Mrs. Stewart celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary Dec. 21, 1937.

He had been a member of the Congregational church in Reinbeck for more than 50 years and has served the church as deacon for many years. He resided in Reinbeck and community more than 60 years.

Leaves Wife, 3 Children; Surviving are his widow, two daughters and one son: Mrs. W. E. (Florence M.) Noble, Cedar Falls, Mrs. H. B. (Erma M.) Bowman, Potsdam, N.Y., Clarence Stewart, Reinbeck; four grandchildren, one brother, Alex M. Stewart, Reinbeck, and two sisters, Mrs. R. J. (Janie) Price, Randall, MN, and Mrs. Frank (Jessie) Gordon, Mason, IA. His parents, two brothers, (John R. and James) and two sisters (Mrs. William (Agnes) Bryan and Maggie Stewart) preceded him.
