ENNENGA, ECKHOFF, SEEHUSEN

LeRoy E. Ennenga, 77, of Grundy Center, Iowa, died Saturday, January 13, 2007, at the Grundy County Memorial Hospital-Long Term Care Unit, in Grundy Center, Iowa, from lung cancer, while under the care of Cedar Valley Hospice. Funeral services will be 1:30 P.M., Wednesday, January 17, 2007, at Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, rural Holland, Iowa, with Pastor Larry Hoop and Pastor Larry Doughan officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Grundy Center, Iowa, with full military rites provided by the Grundy Center American Legion Post #349 and AMVETS Post #17. Visitation will be Tuesday, January 16, 2007, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Engelkes-Abels Funeral Home in Grundy Center. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that the memorials be directed to Cedar Valley Hospice-Grundy Center location; or to the Covenant Cancer Center.

LeRoy was born on March 20, 1929, near Holland, Iowa, the son of Eilt and Kate (Eckhoff) Ennenga. He grew up in the Holland area. On December 31, 1951, Leroy was united in marriage to Grace Seehusen. LeRoy served in the United States Army during the Korean War from August 6, 1951 to August 6, 1953, when he was honorably discharged. LeRoy and his wife Grace lived in Holland for thirty four years and later moved to Grundy Center where they lived for sixteen years, where they retired.

LeRoy worked for area farmers and later C.B. Sonnenborg, and for A.S.C. for about six years. LeRoy then worked for Clay Equipment in Cedar Falls for twenty-eight and a half years, and retired from there.

LeRoy's hobbies included gardening, taking care of his lawn and going fishing with his brothers. LeRoy was also a member of Colfax Center Presbyterian Church, where he had also served as a former Deacon.

He is survived by his wife Grace Ennenga of Grundy Center, Iowa; two daughters Debra Faye Braun and her husband Curtis Braun of Waterloo, Iowa; Diane Kaye Lewis and her husband David Lewis of Waterloo, Iowa; four grandchildren Kelly Jean Braun and Scott Aaron Braun; Andrew David Lewis and Aaron Lee Lewis all of Waterloo, Iowa; two brothers Donald Ennenga of Holland, Iowa; Arnold Ennenga and his wife JoAnn of Conrad, Iowa; three sisters Izetta Kuehl of the Long Term Care Unit in Grundy Center, Iowa; Esther Heeren of Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Reinbeck, and her husband Jake Heeren of Grundy Center; Mildred Thornton and her husband Reggie of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and one sister-in-law Elaine Ennenga of Grundy Center, Iowa.

He was preceded in death by his parents-Eilt and Kate Ennenga; three brothers Willard, Clarence, and Dale Ennenga; one brother-in-law Hans Kuehl; one nephew James Kuehl; one sister-in-law Marie Ennenga; and several nieces and nephews.
