WELLSBURG - Ordean Starr, 87, of Wellsburg died Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at the Ackley Presbyterian Village. Funeral services were Tuesday, Aug. 31, at the Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg with the Rev. Todd Rempe officiating. Burial was at the Steamboat Rock Cemetery in Steamboat Rock. A memorial fund has been established.

Ordean was born Jan. 15, 1917, on the family farm east of Wellsburg to Albertus and Margaret (Meints) Harrenstein. On March 2, 1938, she was united in marriage to Charles Starr Jr. She was the head cook at the Wellsburg High School for 23 years and was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church.

Survivors include one son, Kirk of Marshalltown; one daughter, Darlys Rothert and husband Richard of Earham; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Janice; and two brothers, John and Herman.

Doyen-Abels Funeral Home of Wellsburg was in charge of arrangements.
