MESA, Ariz.—Jake Kruger, 87, of Mesa, Ariz., and formerly of Hampton, Charles City, Mason City and Iowa Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 5, 2005, in Phoenix, Ariz. Memorial services will be Friday, April 15, 4 p.m. at the Linn’s Funeral Chapel, Iowa Falls, with the Rev. Herb Kenyon of the Church of the Open Bible officiating. Private inurnment will be at a later date. There will be a time of visitation one hour prior to services at the Linn’s Funeral Homes Iowa Falls Chapel.
Jake was born July 17, 1917, in Wellsburg, the son of Andrew and Jennie (Miller) Kruger. He served in the U.S. Army from May 18, 1942, to Nov. 24, 1945. On Dec. 24, 1945, he married Hilda Andersen. To this union one daughter was born: Linda Kay Kruger. After getting out of the Army, the family moved to Waterloo where Jake worked for John Deere. From there they moved to Iowa Falls where he worked in agriculture. The family also lived in Sheffield, where Jake owned a Standard gas station. After selling the station, he worked for Walnut Grove and owned a farm in Sheffield. He also lived in Mason City and worked for Nature Fertilizer Company, then moved to Charles City and bought Star Mobile Home Park. They then moved to Hampton and Jake retired. From there they moved to Springfield, Mo.; Sun City, Ariz.; and Mesa, Ariz.
Jake is survived by his daughter, Linda Kay Kruger; one granddaughter, Michelle (Hobbiebrunken) Watkins; a grandson, Chad Hobbiebrunken; three great grandchildren, Bradley and Daniel Hobbiebrunken and C. J. Watkins; sisters Agnes Pieper, Jenny Warschkow and Grace Robertson; and brothers Herman, Roy and Franklin Kruger.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Jennie Kruger; sisters Etta Jenssen, Mydena Kruger and Helen De Pringer; and brothers Andrew Kruger Jr. and Dick Kruger.
