WELLSBURG—Arvilla B. (Meyer) Freese, 81, of Wellsburg died Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard of natural causes. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg with the Rev. Todd Rempe officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established. Doyen-Abels Funeral Home in Wellsburg is in charge of the arrangements.

Arvilla B. (Meyer) Freese, 81, of Wellsburg, Iowa, died Monday, May 9, 2005, at the Hubbard Care Center in Hubbard, Iowa, of natural causes. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, May 11, 2005, at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, with Pastor Todd Rempe officiating. Burial will follow at the Wellsburg Reformed Church Cemetery in Wellsburg. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2005, from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., at Wellsburg Reformed Church in Wellsburg, where the family will be present to greet friends. A memorial fund has been established.

Arvilla Bernice (Meyer) Freese was born at the home of her parents, in Grundy County, Iowa, on April 7, 1924, the daughter of Harm J. and Rachel (Meyer) Meyer. Arvilla graduated from Wellsburg High School in 1941. After graduation, Arvilla attended American Institute of Business in Davenport, Iowa. Upon graduation she began working at Schukei Chevrolet in Waterloo & later at Flessner Implement in Wellsburg. On January 22, 1948, Arvilla was united in marriage to Clarence Freese at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. After their marriage, they lived in Patuxent River, Maryland, until Clarence was discharged from the U.S. Navy. Upon their return, Arvilla and Clarence lived in Wellsburg. Besides working on the farm, Arvilla worked at Collectors News and the Spokesman Press in Grundy Center. In 1986, they retired from farming and moved to Wellsburg. Arvilla was a member of the Wellsburg Reformed Church where she was involved in Ladies Guild and Bible Study. She enjoyed gardening and watching birds, and being with family and friends.

She is survived by her husband Clarence of Wellsburg; one daughter Sherry Caldwell and her husband Stan of Steamboat Rock; two sons Mike Freese and his wife Cindy of Grundy Center; John Freese of Grundy Center and his friend Sue Simon; four grandchildren Eric Caldwell and his wife Becky of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; Chris Caldwell of Dundee, Iowa; Jon Freese of Rathdrum, Idaho; and Sara Freese of Iowa City, Iowa; one great-granddaughter Rylee Jo Caldwell of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; one sister Viola (Harris) Peters of Wellsburg; one brother Marlyn Meyer of Holland, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; on sister Mathilda (Harry) Rassmusson and one brother John H. Meyer.
