ACKLEY — George Miller, 95, of Ackley died Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2004, at the Hampton Health Care Center. Funeral services were Friday, Dec. 31, at St. John's United Church of Christ in Ackley with the Rev. Mary Stonebraker officiating. Burial followed in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Ackley.

George was born Aug. 27, 1909, in the German Township in Grundy County to Heiko and Katherine (Agena) Miller. He attended District No. 9 School. On Feb. 23, 1937, he was united in marriage with Hattie Daniels in St. John's Parsonage. The couple lived in the Eldora and Ackley areas and they were members of St. John's United Church of Christ. George was a hired man for several local farmers and worked at the canning factory. He enjoyed gardening and sharing his harvest with his neighbors, reading and spending time with his family.

Survivors include a son, Gary Miller and wife Sheryl of Huxley; a grandson, a granddaughter, a great-grandson, and a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Raymond and Nettie Daniels; and 26 nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hattie; a son, Richard Lee; his twin sister, Anna Miller; two sisters, Anna Ida Miller and Ellen Ulfers; and six brothers, Jacob, Emil, Andrew, Claus, David and Herman Miller.

Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley was in charge of the arrangements.
