ACKLEY—Christina “Tena” Gertrude Weber, 97, of Ackley died Sunday, Jan. 23, 2005, at Presbyterian Village in Ackley. Funeral services are Wednesday, Jan. 26, 10:30 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church in Ackley with the Rev. Jenni Walker-Noyes officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery in Ackley.

Tena was born Dec. 6, 1907, in rural Wellsburg to George and Hattie (Hayenga) Wubbens. She received her education from various schools in rural Wellsburg. On Sept. 8, 1931, she was united in marriage with Floyd Weber in Elizabeth, Ill. The couple made their home in Ackley where they ran Weber Motor Co. In 1935 the family moved to Iowa Falls where they started a second car dealership. The family moved back to Ackley due to Floyd’s ill health. Tena cared for Floyd for the next five years until his death in 1943. Tena worked at Mershon’s variety store for 36 years and retired in 1983. She joined First Presbyterian Church in 1943 and attended faithfully until ill health prevented her from going.

Survivors include her daughters, Thelma Shugar and husband Wayne and Marge Boheman and husband Don, all of Ackley; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four step great-grandchildren; and a sister, Carrie Boekhoff of Ackley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Floyd; three brothers, John, Clarence and Fred Wubbens; and a granddaughter, Patty Boheman.

Sietsema Funeral Home in Ackley is in charge of the arrangements.
