Republican: One of the most social events of the season occurred at the home of Frank Mertz Tuesday night, March 19, at being the 50th wedding anniversary of Mr. and Mrs. B. F. Mertz. The children being six in number, William, Elmer, Mrs. Gottsch, and Mrs. Page of this city and James Mertz of Webster city and Mrs. Cohn of Waterloo, were all present besides nineteen grand children. The day was spent in visiting and the evening was spent in music and games. An elegant three course supper was served. They were recipients of many valuable presents in china and received many pieces in gold.
