In Response To: George V HAUPTMAN (Tera Sheppard)

I located some information for you. George's parents appear to be John and Sylvia (Sexton) Hauptman. It looks like John was a Civil War Soldier from Pennsylvania who died November 17, 1878 and is buried in Greene County, Iowa and Sylvia died September 16, 1915 in Okanogan County, Washington. It looks like Sylvia moved out to Washington state in 1909 and died six years later. Hope it helps.

George's obituary:
G. V. Hauptman Of Auburn Dies Wednesday Noon
Auburn — George V. Hauptman, a resident of Auburn for twenty-three years, died suddenly of a heart ailment about noon Wednesday at the home of his son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Lasher, near Glidden, where he had gone for a short visit. Funeral arrangements have not been completed at this time. However, the services will be conducted by the Rev. Walter Rothwell, minister of the Presbyterian Church,
and burial will be in Oaklawn Cemetery.

Mr. Hauptman was born June 17, 1869, at Philadelphia, Pa., a son of John and Sylvia Hauptman. Jan. 11, 1896, he was married to Margaret E. Sprague at Jefferson, where the couple lived until they moved to Auburn. Mr. Hauptman worked for the old brick and tile company here for a number of years after locating in Auburn. Survivors include his wife; one son, Carl Hauptman, Auburn; seven daughters: Mrs. Henry Swick (Bertha), Oakland, Calif.; Mrs. Glenn Lasher (Edith), Glidden; Mrs. Clarence Binkert (Edna) and Mrs. Harold Sorenson (Ruby), Lake City; Mrs. Wayne Williams (Ada), Dexter; Mrs. C. M. Burchfeld (Virginia), Des Moines, and and Mrs. Ed Jannlng (Mildred) Idaho Falls, Idaho; fifteen grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, four sons, one brother and two sisters.

******
Mrs. Sylvia Hauptman, one of the long time residents of Jefferson and a lady universally esteemed in the community, left last Monday for Brewster, Washington, where he will make her future home with her son Harry, who has a fruit claim there which he is now improving. Prior to her departure Mrs. Hauptman sold her cottage, located just south of Mrs. Grant's residence, to Mrs. Grant, and thus severed the property ties which have bound her to Jefferson. The change is quite a radical one for a lady of her years, but we hope that she will find great happiness in the new home. Her son is unmarried, and she will make a home for him in the new country.
