Death of Mr. Hoover

News comes of the death June 27, in Worthington, Minn., of Mrs. Emma Hoover, 74, who was an old time resident of Greene county. Services were conducted in Worthington by the Rev. Norville Underwood and the Rev. Mr. Brown and burial was made in the cemetery in Jefferson.

Pall bears were grandchildren of Mrs. Hoover, Donald and Daryl Kelley, Byrl, Wayne and Dale Hoover, and Charles Custer.

Mrs. Hoover was the former Emma Caroline Tassell who was born in Champaign county, 111,, Aug. 23, 1871, the daughter of John and Sarah Tassell. She married Henry Hoover in Greene county in 1887 and lived here until 1920 when she moved to Worthington which was her home until the time of her death. During her young womanhood she Joined the United Brethren church, but later transferred her church membership to the Church of Christ, in which faith she has continued through the years.

Her family of five sons and five daughters survive. They are Ora of Council Bluffs, Byrl of Worthington, Minn.; Vincent, Lloyd and Kenneth of Sioux Falls, S.D.; Mrs. Grace Custer of Harlan; Mrs. Gertie Kelley of Sioux Falls; Mrs. Alta St. Pierre, Perry; Mrs. Greta Erickson of East Moline, Illinois, and Mrs. Freda Foster of Sioux Falls, S.D.

Others left to mourn her passing are her brother, Reuben Tassell of Stewart, her sisters, Mrs. Mattie Hoyden of Puente, Calif., and Mrs. Bertha Franklin of Linden, and 19 grandchildren and 18 great great-grandchildren.

Her husband and one daughter proceeded her in death.

Out-of-town relatives at the funeral were: Mr. and Mrs, Wayne Garren and Glen Tassell of Oskaloosa; Mrs. Bertha Franklin, Linden; John Franklin, Redfield; Mrs, Ora Clark, Jefferson; Dwayne Erickson, San Diego, Calif.; Ferrist Turner, Linden; Mr. and Mrs. Todd Foster and Virginia Hanken of Sioux Falls. S.D., and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Caldwell, Mr. and Mrs. Byrl Hoover, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Hoover, all of Council Bluffs.
