LAST RITES WERE HELD FOR WILLIAM MAGERS
Services were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon (Thursday) May 1, 1952 from the Vipond Funeral home at Grand Junction for William Thomas Magers of Dana. The Rev. Carlin Curtis of Paton, pastor of the Methodist church at Paton and Dana officiated in the last rites.
Merle Tonkinson, accompanied by Mrs. Tonkinson sang the hymns "No Night There" and "Abide With Me".
Pall Bearers were: Guy Hamilton, Clyde Scott, R. R. Monthel, John Svenson, John Vipond, and Elmer James. Interment was made in the Grand Junction cemetery.
William Thomas Magers, son of Elsa and Elizabeth Magers, was born June 7, 1854 in Edmonton County, Kentucky. And passed away April 28, 1952, at the age of 97 years.
He was married to Mrs. Amanda Wagner, April 5, 1876. In 1882 they came to Greene County and he engaged in farming for several years, then moving to Dana he bought a general store. He has been retired for many years.
Five children were born to this union, Etta M. of Dana and Mina Edwards of LeMars, survive him. The three preceding him in death were, Charles Bruce, Leona Bell, and Julia Evelyn.
His wife preceded him in death September 28, 1948. A sister Mrs. Sarah Byerly of South Dakota and five brothers, Charles, Elmer, John, a sister Mrs. Mary Norton living Tildon and Frank also preceded him. In Omaha that survives him.
He leaves two grandchildren, Virgil Magers of Milwaukee, Wisconsin and Drexel-Edwards, Los Angeles, California and one great granchild Sharon Rae also of Los Angeles.
