WILLIAM ERVIN WRIGHT

SCRANTON-William Ervin Wright,
80, of Scranton, died at 9 p.m., Sunday,
May 30, at Perry. He was a retired farmer,
a former Scranton Board of Education member
and past president of the Greene County Historical Society.

Funeral services will be held at 2
p.m. Wednesday, June 2, at the Church
of Christ here with Pastors Randy
Spilker and Gerald Raymond officiating.
Active casketbearers will be
Jim Juergens, Armen Miller, Ron
Eberle, Glenn Wenger, Wayne Hedges
and Virgil Averill. Serving as honorary
bearers will be Maurice Allstadt,
Maurice McGrew, Dwight Marsh,
LeRoy Bennett, George Seaman, Bud
Thomas, Charlie Wolf and Ray
Mosteller. Burial will be in Wright
cemetery in Greene County.

Friends may call at the Dahn and
Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton
after 3 p.m. Tuesday. A prayer service
will be conducted at the funeral home
at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The casket will be
moved to the church at 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Mr. Wright is survived by three sons:
Henry, Dougherty, Iowa; Duane and
Eldon Wright, Scranton; three sisters:
Mrs. Violet Hayes, Coon Rapids; Mrs.
Minnie Murphy, Jefferson, and Leota
Murphy, Scranton; a brother Wendell
Wright , Jefferson ; four
granddaughters and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by his
parents, wife, a son in infancy, three
brothers and a sister.

Mr. Wright was born May 18, 1902, at
Jefferson, a son of Ervin Oliver and
Mary Lily Hurley Wright. He was
married to Lois Irene Horning
February 26, 1931, at Viola Center. He
retired from farming in 1968. In April
of 1969 he moved to Scranton.

He was a member of the Church of
Christ in Farlin, the I.O.O.F. Lodge,
which he served as noble grand; the
Masonic and Rebekah Lodges, in which
he held offices; the Scranton Board of
Education, the Greene County
Historical Society and the Farmers Coop
at Scranton, serving on its board of
directors.

At the time of his death he was a
patient in the Dallas County Hospital in
Perry.
