Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 20, at Brown Funeral Home in Jefferson for Lucille Pevestorf, 86, Jefferson.

The Rev. Judith Miller, pastor of the First United Methodist Church of Jefferson, officiated. Cliff Said was soloist, accompanied by organist Richard Carey. Casket Bearers were Doug Hobart, Ron Mozena, Meredith Stream, Lowell Platt, Melvin Allison and Ken Bushman. Interment was in Jefferson Cemetery.

Lucille Elsie Pevestrof, the daughter of William and Grace Bullen, was born May 18, 1911, in Chickasaw county on a farm near Nashua. She attended the Maple Grove country school through the eighth grade and graduated from Nashua High School in 1929. She later taught school one year in Floyd county and five years in Guthrie at Seely No. 2.

On Jan. 25, 1936, Lucille Bullen was united in marriage to Emil Pevestorf at the Methodist Church parsonage in Jefferson. To this union was born one son, Gary Lee, who was killed in an elevator explosion on Aug. 22, 1974. After their marriage, the couple farmed various farms in the Greene and Guthrie area. In 1948 the family moved to a farm south of Churdan where they farmed until they built a home in Jefferson in 1967. Emil and Lucille continued to farm west of Jefferson until Emil's illness and death in 1977. Lucille lived in her home in Jefferson until 1990, when she became a resident Greene county Medical Center long term care facility.

Lucille was a member of the Churdan United Methodist Church until 1968 when she moved to Jefferson.

Lucille Pevestrof died Oct. 17, 1997.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her son; three sisters, Neva, Avis, and Ethel; and three brothers, Lowell, Dale, and Junior.

She is survived by her granddaughter, Kimberly Meyer and her husband Scott of Otley; her granddaughter, Emilee Rose; a former daughter-in-law, Ellie Brown and her husband Steve; her brother, Troy Knapp and his wife Ann of Charles City; her sister Alice and her husband Don Johnson of Charles City; and many nieces and nephews.
