Lutheran Rites Held For Augusta Schulze

Last rites were held for MRS. AUGUSTA SCHULZ in Trinity Lutheran Church, Jefferson, Thursday afternoon, Oct. 21. The REV. W. G. SCHULZ, pastor of the church, officiated.

DARRELL MATTHEWS, accompanied by RUTH TROST, sang “Be Still My Soul” and “Rock of Ages”.

Pall bearers were ALBERT SCHEUERMAN, DEWEY SCHILLING, HARVEY SCHULTZ, VERN MARTEN, JAY SCHILLING and LLOYD BALLER.

Burial was at Franklin Township Cemetery.

Augusta Schulze, daughter of FREDRICK and EMMA LORENCE, was born in West Prussia, Germany, Nov. 18, 1867. In her early infancy she was baptized. Later she renewed her baptismal vow through confirmation and was received as a Communicant member of the Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church all her life and at the time of her death belonged to the Trinity Lutheran congregation in Jefferson.

At the age of 22 Mrs. Schulz came to America and lived at Rock Island, Ill. Here she was united in marriage to FRED SCHULZ. Later she moved with her husband to Cooper, Iowa. Their union was blessed with three children; Paul, Lucy and Will.

In 1922 the family moved to a farm north of Scranton where Mrs. Schulz lived until the death of her husband in 1932. She then moved to Jefferson where she made her home until her death.

She leaves to morn her passing two children, PAUL of Scranton and LUCY, MRS. GLEN ROSA of Crandon, Wis.; four grandchildren, DOROTHY PHEIFER of Milwaukee, Wis., HOMER ROSA of Crandon, Wis., BILL and MARJORIE SCHULZ of Scranton; four great-grandchildren and other relatives.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son, Will and one sister.

Mrs. Schulze passed away in the Jefferson hospital Oct. 19, at the 86 years, 11 months and one day.
