Ralph Bowley Dies; Funeral Held Here

Funeral services were held Friday afternoon, Oct. 22 in the Slininger chapel for RALPH EUGENE BOWLEY. Burial was at the Jefferson Cemetery.

The Rev. GILBERT G. STOUT and the Rev. EARL F. MC GINNES, ministers at the Jefferson Methodist Church, officiated at the services.

Mrs. C. C. CHARLES, accompanied by MRS. SHIRLEY WINEY, sang “Crossing the Bar” and “Abide With Me.”

Pallbearers were LUCIAN YOUNGBLOOD, E. J. SANDERSON, ARTHUR ROBINSON, WM. LE GORE, JUDD JOHNSON and JAY STEWART.

Ralph Eugene Bowley, son of GEORGE and EMMA BOWLEY, was born Dec. 13, 1872, in Bristol Township on the farm which had been settled by his grandparents and parents when they moved to Wisconsin in 1869. He died in Jefferson, Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and several days.

He was united in marriage with EDNA HEATON Sept. 25, 1900, in Canon City, Colo. They made their home and raised their family on the same farm where he was born and raised, and resided there until 1920 when they moved to Hardin Township and later to Jefferson, in 1948.

He was an active member of the Mt. Horeb Church and served on the church board and as Sunday school superintendent for a number of years. When services at the Mt. Horeb were discontinued in 1926, he transferred his membership to the First Methodist Church, Jefferson, where he was a regular attendant of the Loyal Bible class as long as his health permitted.

He was preceded in death by his father in 1922, his mother in 1926, and brother, JOHN in 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Edna; a son, BURDETTE, a daughter, LEONA LACOCK, six grandchildren and one great-grand child. Other relatives include. CLARA and ROY HAWLEY of Tryunga, Calif., and CHARLES BARRETT of Jefferson, MISS MATTIE GRAHAM of Dakota City, Neb., MRS. ANITA CARLSON of Audubon, and MRS. GEO. GILCHRIST of Stratford.
