Perry J. Ridenour, who has been lived in Miami since 1938, is dead at the age of 75. His funeral services will be at 4 p.m Monday at Philbrick and Son Coral Gables Funeral Home. Mr. Ridenour of 12825 SW 21st St. died of a stroke Saturday at Mercy Hospital. He is the father-in-law of Miami attorney Bill Hicks. Friends said Mr. Ridenour was a man with marvelous spirit and optimism that attracted friends in not only his own age bracket but among the young also. A true sportsman, he was known in his neighborhood for his enthusiasm in teaching young people to play golf in his back yard. Golf, tennis, and baseball were among his favorite interests. Born in Paton, Iowa, Mr. Ridenour joined the Air Force and studied flying at the University of Texas. He was a World War I veteran. He began flying his own plane when he was young. His interest in aviation was further developed by his Air Force service. Later moving to Atwood, KY, Mr. Ridenour was employed as an administrative assistant for the Civil Service there. He then moved to Louisville, KY, where he became sales manager for Studebaker. He later developed an automobile dealership in Kentucky. Moving to Miami in 1938, Mr. Ridenour was an inspector for MIAD, a Miami supply depot for the U.S. Army during World War II. He later was employed by the U.S. Treasury Department in Miami. Mr. Ridenour retired in 1958. Mr. Ridenour is a former member of the Masons and the First Christian Church of Miami. His survivors include his wife Bess, and daughter Mrs. William M. Hicks, both of Miami, sisters Mrs. Glyde Brinkman of Rolfe, Iowa, Mrs. J.E. Hronek of Pocahontas, Iowa, and Mrs. C.E. Bush of Miami, and two grandsons. Repose will be from 7 to 9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
