THE REPORTER, CHURDAN, IOWA - APRIL 23, 1920
MRS. REBECCA STREAM PASSED AWAY

Rebecca Delong, daughter of Henry and Martha Delong, was born in Putnam County, Illinois, November 26, 1845, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Nellie Noel, April 15, 1920, aged 74 years, 4 months and 20 days. She was united in marriage to Alexander Cairns in 1865. To this union four children were born, one son and three daughters. Of this family, only the son Ernest A. Cairns is living. Alexander Cairns died in 1873, from injuries received when their house was burned down, after which the widow moved back to Illinois. On October 3, 1882, she was united in marriage to W. C. Stream. To this union two daughters were born, Mrs. Cliford West and Mrs. Nellie Noel. Mrs. Stream faithfully mothered the four children of Mr. Stream, Harve, Oren, Mrs. Maggie Wright and Mrs. Cora Knapper. Mr. Stream passed away January 29, 1912, at Churdan. Mrs. Stream made Churdan her home, excepting the last two years which she has spent chiefly at the home of her daughter Nellie, where she has been lovingly cared for, especially during these last few months of sickness. She is survived by her children, Ernest A. Cairns., Mrs. Cliford West and Mrs. Nellie Noel, and by her four step-children, Harve, Oren, Mrs. Maggie Wright and Mrs. Cora Knapper. In 1876 when living at Mendota, Illinois, Mrs. Stream attended some special meetings being held at the Baptist church of that place; at these meetings she was converted and afterwards united with the church. When returning to Churdan as the wife of Mr. Stream, she became a member of the Presbyterian church, and she remained a faithful member until her removal to the Church Triumphant. During the past few weeks of her illness when she realized that soon she must leave this old world, she said, "Yes I am going home, a better home than ever I have had here." Jesus Christ was her Saviour and she was conscious of His nearness and His power to save and keep. Funeral services were held on Saturday, April 17th, in the Presbyterian church, of Churdan, conducted by her pastor, Rev. C. B. Driver. Music was furnished by Miss Mary Perkins and Mrs. F. E. Cressler. The Ladies of the W. R. C. were in attendance and lined the pathway to the church. The body was reverently laid away in the beautiful little graveyard at Churdan.
