THE REPORTER, CHURDAN, IOWA - APRIL 9, 1936
MARCELLA STREAM

Marcella Grace Stream was born in Des Moines, Iowa, November 22, 1908. The following spring she moved with her parents to Adaza, Iowa, where they resided for thirteen years. The family then moved to Jefferson, Iowa for a few months before moving to Des Moines. Marcella graduated from Roosevelt High School in Des Moines in June 1926. She had a beautiful voice and was leading lady in the Operetta her senior year in High School. The next few years were spent in Des Moines and Chicago, Illinois. In August 1933, she moved to Minneapolis, Minnesota, where she lived until her death, on April 3rd, 1936. In Minneapolis she was employed as switchboard operator for the Minnesota Amusement Company where with her ready smile and lovable disposition she endeared herself to her fellow workers. In recent years her thought was for her family and friends. Her understanding and unselfishness have left us with a beautiful memory of her. She was a living example of "It is More Blessed to Give than to Receive." Marcella was baptized at Grace Methodist Church in Des Moines. In Minneapolis she was a student of Christian Science.

Marcella was the eldest daughter of George E. Stream, of Farlin, Iowa, and Jane Canady Stream, of Minneapolis, Minnesota. She lived with her mother Jane Stream and Madge, her sister Margaret Sheuerman and Richard Sheuerman Jr. She has left an empty spot in that home that nothing can ever fill. In addition to the above mentioned family her loss will be deeply felt by her grandmother Mrs. Nettie Canady of Lake View, Iowa, her many aunts and uncles and cousins, and as Marcella herself would express it - her other mother, Mrs. Geo. E. Stream of Farlin. Her many devoted friends share this loss with us.

On Tuesday, March 24th, Marcella was stricken by spinal menengitis at her home. She was taken to St. Barnabas Hospital the same day, where every effort was made to save her life. The first few days she showed daily improvement, but on Sunday night she began to lose ground and was released from her suffering at 12:58 a.m., April 3rd. On account of the contagion of the disease a public funeral was impossible. Services were held at the Churdan cemetery where she was laid to her final rest Saturday afternoon at two o’clock, conducted by Rev. D. G. Luke, pastor of the local Presbyterian church. Many relatives and friends attended the burial services at the cemetery.
