MRS. JANE CLIPPERTON

Jane T. Clipperton was born in Ireland, September 15, 1829; died at Churdan, Iowa, January 19, 1908, age 78 years, 1 month and 4 days. When she was but 9 years of age her parents emigrated to London, Canada. At the age of 19 she was united in marriage to William Clipperton. To this union was born 12 children; only Eliza A. Flack has preceded mother to the heavenly home in 1906. The others remaining to mourn the loss of a beloved mother are: James Clipperton; Margaret Flack; Hannah Blake; John J. Clipperton; Neomi Stockbridge; William A. Clipperton; Susan Blake; Mary E. Blake; Thomas Clipperton; Robert F. Clipperton and Henry Clipperton.

In 1870 the Clippertons moved with their family to their farm in Highland township, Greene county, where they continued to live until the death of a dear husband and father which occurred May 29, 1893. Since the departure of her husband, Grandma Clipperton has continued to make her home with her youngest son, Henry Clipperton on the old home place. She leaves to mourn her loss besides the 11 children and a host of many warm friends.

She believed in the spreading of God's Kingdom here on earth and that she may faithfully do her part she must unite with a well organized force. She united with the Methodist church of Canada and upon arrival in Greene county she joined the Free Methodist church. Later in 1900 she transferred her membership to the First Methodist Episcopal church at Churdan where she remained a faithful, loyal member until death when joined the host of the invisible church.

Grandma Clipperton was an ideal mother, a precious gem in the family. She cared not only for the physical welfare of her beloved ones, but the spiritual life was highly exalted. She was loved by all who knew her.

Funeral services were conducted at the Methodist church by her pastor, Tuesday, January 21 at 2 p.m. A host of friends from far and near were present to extend their token of last respect. Floral decorations were beautiful. With weeping hearts she was at length laid to rest in Churdan cemetery.
