Memorial services were held Saturday, March 11, from the Slininger-Rossow Chapel in Jefferson for Allene Andrew, 76, Des Moines area resident and a native of Jefferson.

Dr. Richard Glasgow, pastor of First Presbyterian Church of Jefferson, officiated. Casket bearers were Doug Schroeder, David and Alan Cart, Kent Wilcox, and Jeff and Tom Logsdon. Interment of the cremains was to be in Jefferson Cemetery at the convienience of the family.

Allene Andrew was born January 8, 1919, in Jefferson. She was the daughter of Merton and Iva Smith Andrew.

Allene moved to Ogden as a youngster. She graduated from Ogden High School in 1937 and did domestic work in the Ogden and Boone communities for several years.

In 1945 Allene moved to Des Moines where she worked for the state of Iowa at the Iowa State House. In 1947 she became a secretary for John Deere in Ankeny, retiring in 1980.

On March 7, 1995, Allene Andrew died at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Preceding her in death were her parents and a sister, Pauline Wilcox.

Surviving are three sisters, LaVerne Schroeder and Blythe Andrew, both of Urbandale, and Carol Cart of Jackson, TN; one brother Glen Andrew of Ankeny, and nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
