SERVICES HELD HERE FOR GEORGE STREAM

Funeral services for George Stream were held at the Slininger Chapel here at 2 p.m. Wednesday, September 4, with the Rev. Dick Harberts, pastor of her First Presbyterian church officiating.

Dr. J. K. Johnson, accompanied by Mrs. R. W. Thompson, sang "The Lord’s Prayer".

Casket bearers were Russell Johnston, Darwin Flack, Lester McCollum, Earl Cairns, Merle Cairns and Glen Farrell. Interment was in the Highland Cemetery at Churdan.

George Elias Stream, son of Calvin and Catherine Andrew Stream, was born January 2, 1883, in Bristol Township, Greene County, Iowa. George attended the rural school near his birthplace and has lived in Greene county all of his life, with the exception of a few years when he served as a grocer and a street car conduction in Des Moines.

On October 29, 1929 he was united in marriage to Coral Conkey McLain. George served as postmaster while in the grocery business in both Adaza and Farlin. He retired five years ago and moved to Jefferson, where he has since made his home.

Mr. Stream was a member of the First Presbyterian church in Jefferson. He was also a member of the Bethshan Masonic Lodge No. 580 in Churdan.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, are his daughter, Margaret, Mrs. William J. Micheels of Minneapolis, Minnesota; one step-son, Howard McLain of St. Petersburg, Florida; two grandchildren, Madge Micheels Zietlow of Petersburg, Virginia and Richard Jacob Micheels of Minneapolis; one great granddaughter, Tanya Paulin Zietlow and one sister, June Kinzie. A daughter, Marcella Grace Stream, precedes him in death.

Mr. Stream died on September 1, 1957, in Jefferson, at the age of 74 years, seven months and 22 days.
