Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 20, from First Baptist Church in Churdan for Martha M. "Mattie" Outtrim, 93, of Bayard former longtime Greene county resident.

The Rev. Henry Hickethier, pastor of the church, officiated. Charles Curtis was soloist, with Rochelle Guess as organist.

Casket bearers were Harold Hoyle, Jody Custer, David Blair, Harold Flack, Roger Custer and Marvin Flack. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

A prayer service was held Tuesday evening, April 19, at 7 p.m. at Brown Funeral Home in Churdan.

Mattie Outtrim, the daugher of William E. and Martha Flack Andrew was born September 22, 1894, in Greene County. She died April 17, 1988, at Bayard Care Center.

Mattie received her early education in rural schools in Greene county. On November 12, 1913 Mattie Andrew was united in marriage to Frank Outtrim at Jefferson. To this union was born one son, Merle of Churdan. After their marriage the couple engaged in farming in Dawson township.

Frank Outtrim passed away in 1949, and Mattie stayed on the farm for a period of time and then moved into Churdan. In 1967 she became a resident of Bayard Care Center, where she made her home until her death.

Survivors include her son Merle and his wife Signe; two grandsons, Gary and his wife Beverley and their sons Jeb and Gabe, and Gail and his wife Judy and their daughters Erica and Elizabeth.

Preceding her in death were her parents, husband, three brothers and two sisters.
