GRANDMA ANDREW LAID TO REST SUNDAY AFTERNOON

Martha Emertta Flack daughter of Samuel and Rebecca Flack, was born in Cedar County, Iowa, March 18, 1858, and passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. B. Gardner of Paton, Iowa, March 18, 1943.

In the years of 1871 she came with her parents to Greene County, Iowa. She was united in marriage to William H. Andrew, April 8, 1877. To this union seven children, four boys and three girls were born, Marsha H.; Maurice E., of Jefferson, Iowa; Wilda McGee who passed away November 10, 1915; Mahlon T. who died in infancy; Merton A. of Ogden, Iowa; Pearle Gardner of Paton, Iowa; and Mattie Outtrim of Jefferson, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Andrew made their home on a farm in Highland Township near Churdan, Iowa, until the death of the husband May 29, 1915, after which she moved to Churdan until 1938, when she moved to the home of her daughter Pearle Gardner at Paton, Iowa.

She was baptized and united with the Baptist Church in Churdan in the year 1916.

She was the last of a family of 12 children, eight boys and four girls, Salathul; John; Thomas; Robert; Samuel; Alfred; George; Lydia; Susan; and an infant baby girl.

She was a kind wife and loving mother whose family was her first interest in life. Always a good neighbor and will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

She is survived by five children, eighteen grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral service were held from the Presbyterian Church in Churdan, Sunday afternoon, March 21st, at 3:00 o’clock, conducted by Rev. William Krueger, pastor of the local Baptist Church. A Ladies quartet composed of Mrs. Waite Reading, Mrs. Ida M. Blazier, Mrs. Niles Wittfoth, Mrs. Alta Flack, sang "In the Sweet Bye and Bye" and "City Four Square," accompanied on the piano by Mrs. Helen Marsh. Casket bearers were: L. Gardner, Glen Andrew, Merle Outtrim, Verne Taylor, Roy Flack and Byron Flack.
Interment was made in the Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.
