Funeral services were held Saturday, August 14, from First Baptist Church in Churdan for Byron George Flack, 72, native and longtime Churdan area resident.

The Rev. John Swoyer, pastor of the church, officiated. Vocal music was provided by David Dunne, Teena Toliver, and Rochelle Guess and the congregation, with Helen Wilson as organist.

Honorary casket bearers were Bernard Patterson, Bob Berns Sr, Paul Parker, Merle Outtrim, Gerald Dunne, Rudy Walter, Paul Conner, Albert Geisler and Verle Subbert. Casket bearers were Perry Parker, David Dunne, Mark Berns, Dan Sims, Joe Bates and Carl Juergensen. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

A prayer service was held Friday evening, August 13, at Brown Funeral Home in Churdan.

Byron G. Flack, the son of Alta and Nellie Saunders Flack, was born August 17, 1920, on his parnets' farm near Churdan. He died August 11, 1993, at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson.

Byron attended country school and later graduated from Churdan High School in 1938. On January 10, 1943, Byron Flack was united in marriage to June Johnson at the Methodist Church in Farnhamville. To this union were born two sons, Richard Merle Flack of Rochester, MN and Ronald Dean Flack who died in infancy.

Following their marriage the couple farmed in the Churdan are until Byron's retirement in 1990. In March of 1993 Byron and June moved to their present home in Churdan. Byron and June celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in January of this year.

Byron Flack was a member of First Baptist Church in Churdan and also a member of the Greene County Saddle Club.

Survivors include his wife, son, daughter-in-law Marilyn, granddaughter Mandy, mother Nellie Flack of Jefferson, and two sisters, Beulah Brody of Churdan and Berneice Patterson of Missoula, MT.

His father and one son preceded him in death.

Byron G. Flack, 72, of Churdan died of a heart ailment Wednesday at Greene County Medical Center in Jefferson. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, and burial will be in Highland Township Cemetery.

Mr. Flack was born in Churdan. He was a retired farmer and a member of the Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, June; a son, Rich of Rochester, Minn.; his mother, Nellie Flack of Jefferson; two sisters, Beulah Brody of Churdan and Berniece Patterson of Missoula, Mont.; and a grandchild.

The family will visit with friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. today at Brown Funeral Home.
