Funeral services were held Thursday, January 14, from the Slininger Chapel in Jefferson for Ruth Flack, 84, of Jefferson, longtime northern Greene county resident.

The Rev. Henry Hickethier, pastor of First Baptist Church at Churdan, officiated. Helen Wilson was organist.

Casket bearers were Carl Garnett, Bill Schulze, John Pemble, Harold Flack, Keith Wright and Dan Pemble. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

Ruth Flack was born May 29, 1897 at Jamestown, ND, the daughter of William and Fannie Crowder Pemble. As a youngster she moved with her family to a farm north of Farlin where she attended nearby rural schools.

Ruth married Alva Flack on February 25, 1914, at Farlin. They were the parents of a son, Darwin, and a daughter, Doris. Mr. and Mrs. Flack farmed in northern Greene county. Ruth was a member of the Farlin Baptist Church and later transferred her membership to the the First Baptist Church at Churdan. She also belonged to the Unity Club at Farlin.

Mrs. Flack died Sunday, January 10, at the Jefferson Manor where she had lived the past few years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1977, and three sisters, Edna, Stella and Mabel.

Those who survive include her children, Darwin of Jefferson and Doris [Mrs. Bill] Strom of Fresno, CA; and two brothers, Lloyd Pemble of Scranton and Roscoe Pemble of Austin, TX.
