Funeral services were held Wednesday, April 13, from Slininger Funeral Home of Alva S. Flack, 85, longtime Greene county farmer.

The Rev. Chester W. Chappell, pastor of First Baptist Church of Jefferson, officiated. Mrs. Curtis Wilson was organist.

Casket bearers were Harold, Tom, Byron and Alvin Flack, Keith Wright and Curtis Wilson. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

Alva Samuel Flack, son of Alfred and Ella Andrew Flack, was born June 12, 1891, in Greene County and died Sunday, April 10, in Jefferson. He attended rural schools in Bristol township where he grew to manhood.

Alva married Ruth Pemble on February 25, 1914, at the home of the bride's parents. They were the parents of one son, Darwin, and one daughter, Doris.

Mr. and Mrs. Flack farmed most of their married life in Greene and Calhoun counties. Mr. Flack was a member of the First Baptist Church in Churdan.

He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and three sisters.

Those who survive include his wife, Ruth; one son, Darwin of Jefferson; a daughter, Mrs. Bill [Doris] Strom of Fresno, CA; two sisters, Mrs. Ruth Wing of Rockwell City and Miss Ruth Flack of Churdan; and several nieces and nephews.
