RITES FOR ELIZABETH CLIPPERTON ARE HELD

Funeral service for Elizabeth M. Clipperton were held at the Baptist church at Churdan at 2 p.m., Saturday, December 26, with Rev. George C. Foster, pastor of the church, officiating.

Mrs. Niles Witfoth and Mrs. Alta Flack, accompanied by Joy Witfoth, sang "When I Get to the End of the Way" and "Beyond the Sunset."

Pallbearers were Glen, Merle and Orvis Clipperton, Clare Hunter, Wayne Brody and John Law. Interment was in Highland township cemetery, Churdan.

Elizabeth May Patrick, daughter of Jesse and Sarah Patrick, was born May 9, 1889 on a farm in Hardin Township, Greene County, and passed away at the Greene County hospital on Wednesday, December 23, at the age of 64 years, seven months and 14 days.

She resided at the place of her birth and attended the rural school there until 1904 when she moved with her parents to Churdan. At the age of 15 she became a member of the First Baptist church of Churdan. She graduated from the Churdan High school with the class of 1908, after which she attended the Iowa State Teachers college and later taught in the local rural schools for about two years.

On March 26, 1911 she was united in marriage to John Wesley Clipperton at the Patrick home in Churdan. To this union were born two children, Dale Wesley Clipperton and Doris Gail Sorenson, both of Churdan.

She leaves to mourn her passing besides her husband and two children; one sister, Mrs. Ben Clipperton of Churdan; two grandchildren, Alan Clipperton and Gary Sorenson, one niece, Mrs. Wilma Hunter of Churdan and one nephew, Wayne Brody of Glidden.

Preceding her in death are her father and mother and one granddaughter, Donna Lee Sorenson.
