L. FISCUS SERVICES HELD HERE FEBRUARY 27

Services for Leonard Fiscus were held Tuesday, February 27, at Slinnger’s chapel with V. M. Gilbert, evangelist from Des Moines, and J. W. McPherson, pastor of the Church of Christ here, in charge. Interment was made at the Rippey cemetery.

Casket bearers were Ira Hartwigsen, Lloyd Winkelman, Vern Hartwigsen, Ed Millard, John Whitsell and John Bauman. "Face to Face" and "The Old Rugged Cross" were hymns sung by Don Dairymple, Wendell Wright, Ruth Dairymple and James McPherson.

Leonard Fiscus, son of Fredrick and Isabell Hauser Fiscus, was born in Owen county, Indiana, December 14, 1866, and departed from this life at his home in Jefferson, Iowa, February 25, 1951, at the age of 84 years, 2 months and 11 days.

Leonard came from Indiana when he was a young man, and most of his life has been spent in Iowa.

On March 6, 1888, he was married to Ella Fiscus. To this union three children were born: Verna, Hazel and Clifford. Hazel died in the winter of 1918. Her mother passed away on August 1, 1928.

On September 6, 1934, he was united in marriage to Mrs. Ollie Gardner.

Mr. Fiscus was baptized and became a member of the Church of Christ at an early age.

He was preceded in death by five brothers and one sister.

Those surviving are his wife, Ollie; Clifford Fiscus, both of Jefferson; five grandchildren,; four sisters, Mrs. Ben Arney of Sullivan, Indiana, Mrs. Charles Stahl of Freedom; Indiana, Mrs. Charles Long of Albion, Mrs. Sherman Childress of Rock Rapids; two brothers, Emmet Fiscus of Champaign, Illinois and Fred Fiscus of Winslow, Indiana.

Step-children are Frank Gardner, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Robert Gardner, Fort Dodge, and Raymond Gardner, Des Moines; also one step-daughter, Gladys Johnson of Jefferson.
