CHURDAN - Mrs. Josie May Fiscus, 81, of Carroll, formerly of the Jefferson and Rippey area, died Thursday afternoon, June 13, at Shady Oaks Nursing Home in Lake City.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at the Brown Funeral Home in Churdan with the Rev. Henry Hickethier officiating. Burial will be in Highland Township cemetery.

A prayer service will be conducted at the funeral home at 7:30 p.m. Friday with the with the Rev. Keith Ellis officiating.

Mrs. Fiscus is survived by four sons: Dwayne, Churdan; Dwight, Carroll; Dean, Adel, and Delbert Fiscus, Glidden; ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and a sister Tilla Blair, Council Bluffs.

She was preceded her in death by her parents, husband, two brothers and a sister.

Mrs. Fiscus, was born October 2, 1903, at Blue Mound, MO., a daughter of James and Alice Trosper Gilbert. She was married to Clifford Fiscus at Jefferson on February 14, 1927.

Funeral services were held Saturday, June 15, from Brown Funeral home in Churdan for Josie Fiscus, 81, of Lake City, former Jefferson and Rippey area resident.

The Rev. Henry Hickethier officiated. LaRie Mosman rendered musical selections.

Casket bearers were Charles Curtis, Tom McCann, Steve Fiscus, Jeff Fiscus, Mike Fiscus and Dallas Bowman. Interment was in Highland Township Cemetery at Churdan.

A family prayer service was held Friday evening, June 14, with the Rev. Keith Ellis officiating.

Josie May Fiscus, the daughter of James and Alice Trosper Gilbert, was born October 2, 1903, at Blue Mound, MO. She passed away June 13 at Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.

Mrs. Fiscus attended country school near Hale, Mo, and later moved with her family to Kansas where she graduated from Heath Public School in 1921.

On February 14, 1927, Josie Gilbert was united in marriage to Clifford Fiscus at Jefferson. To this union were born four sons, Dwayne of Churdan, Dwight of Carroll, Dean of Adel and Delbert of Glidden.

Following their marriage the couple engaged in farming near Jefferson and Rippey. Later they moved to Perry and then to Madrid. Mr. Fiscus passed away in 1961 and Mrs. Fiscus continued to make her home in Madrid. She later moved to Glidden for a short time and then to Carroll. She was a resident at the Carroll Manor for eight years and for the past two years she has made her home at the Shady Oaks Care Center in Lake City.

Survivors include her four sons, ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and one sister Tilla Blair of Council Bluffs.

Those who preceded her in death were her parents, husband, two brothers Vernie and Wilfred and one sister Della.
