Jack Dean Peterson was born September 5, 1936 in Jefferson, Greene County, Iowa and died there December 3, 1998. He is buried in the Jefferson Cemetery. He was married to Janet Nichols.

Obituary: Jack Peterson, 62, of Jefferson died of a heart attack Thursday at Greene County Medical Center there. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Slininger-Rossow Funeral Chapel in Jefferson, with burial at Jefferson Cemetery there.

Mr. Peterson was born in Jefferson and had lived in Greene County most of his life, where he was an auctioneer and salesman. He was an Air Force veteran and a member of Elks Lodge.

Among survivors are his wife, Karol; 2 sons, Bret and Scott, and a daughter, Kathy Peterson, all of Rapid City, South Dakota; 3 stepdaughters, Kim Kendall and Kristi Kendall, both of Mundelein, Illinois, and Kelly Kendall of Pittsburgh; a stepson, Klayton Kendall of Jefferson; his father, Virgil Peterson of Scranton; and 2 brothers, Dick of Jefferson and Larry of Madrid.

Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at the funeral chapel, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m.
