DEATH OF A PIONEER

Mrs. Cora Sonner, a resident of Madison township community for many years, passed away at her home at 8 p.m., Saturday evening. Mrs. Sonner suffered a broken hip more than four years ago, and had been confined to her home since that time.

Cora M.Randall, daughter of James and Lucy Randall, was born in Madison township, Fremont county, Iowa, (*April 6, 1869, and passed away September 2, 1950), at the age of 81 years, 4 months and 27 days.

She was united in marriage to Arthur M. Sonner, Sept. 2, 1896, and to this union three children were born, Mrs. Leta Smalley, Orville Sonner of Percival, and a son, who passed away in infancy. She is survived by her son and daughter, three grandchildren, Sandra Sue and Nancy Lea Sonner and Kenneth Smalley, one brother, J.C. Randall of Exeter, Calif., and many friends. Her husband passed away May, 1942.

Mrs. Sonner lived her entire life on the farm where she passed away, with the exception of thirteen years. She was an active and earnest worker on the Madison church until illness and infirmities of old age overtook her.

Funeral services were held at Rash Funeral Home on Tuesday, Sept. 5, at 2 p.m., conducted by the Rev. Horace Ireland, pastor of the Madison church, assisted by the pastor of the Community church at Percival. Burial was in the Locust Grove cemetery.
