MRS. JETTIE BROWN PASSES ON

Mrs. Jettie M. Brown, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away at her home in Hamburg late Sunday evening, following a long illness. She was a victim of arthritis and had been an invalid for several years. She was a patient sufferer and carried on with the work in her home until the disease completely stiffened her willing hands and body and made her entirely helpless. Members of her family and friends have tenderly cared for her and she received the best of medical care, but there was no cure for her affliction. Her long life and her patience illistrate her fine character.

Jettie May Noblitt, daughter of James S. and Emily Noblitt, was born in Atchison County, Missouri, January 27, 1871 and passed away at her home in Hamburg, August 6, 1950, at the age of 78 years, 5 months and 9 days. When a young woman, she became a member of the Baptist church at Grange Hall. Several years later she united with the Baptist church in Hamburg, where she was a faithful member and regular attendant until her health failed.

She married James W. Brown, March 1, 1899 and to this union three children were born: Winnie Brown of Hamburg, Doran of Van Nuys, California, and Charlie, who preceded her in death. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Jean McKean of North Hollywood, Keith C. Brown and James LeRoy Brown of Van Nuys, Calif., Lloyd Leslie Brown of Omaha and Norma Lee Brown of Hamburg. There are two great grandchildren, Mary Helen and Kathy Lou McKean of North Hollywood; two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Joy of Richmond, Missouri, and Mrs. Fannie Minch of Lexington, Misouri; a half-sister, Mrs. Bessie Tuttle of Chariton, Missouri; a half-brother, Gaylord C. Noblitt of Council Bluffs, her step-mother, Mrs. Ida Willitts of Chariton, other near relatives and many friends.

Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 6 at Johnson Funeral Home and burial was made in the Mt. Olive cemetery.
